CCL24

A gene on chromosome 7q11.23 that encodes a CC-type cytokine, which is characterised by two adjacent cysteines and, as with all cytokines, is involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. CCL24 binds CCR3; it is chemotactic for resting T lymphocytes, has some effect on neutrophils and none on monocytes or activated T lymphocytes; it is also a strong suppressor of colony formation by multipotential haematopoietic stem cells.
