CASP-9 | definition of CASP-9 by Medical dictionary
CASP9 (redirected from CASP-9)
CASP9 A gene on chromosome 1p36.21 that encodes a ubiquitous protein belonging to the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family which, once activated by proteolytic processing, plays a central role in the execution phase of cell apoptosis. CASP9 is an initiator-type caspase, which is activated by, and interacts with, upstream adaptor molecules through CARD and DED protein–protein interaction domains; it is processed by APAF1, an early step in the caspase activation cascade. It is highly expressed in the heart.

LG exposure (LG) did not affect gene expression of IL-6, ICAM-1, and COX2 as well Casp-3, Casp-9, and CHOP.
In our study, exposure to LPS increases expression of both Casp-3 and Casp-9 as well as that of CHOP, while 1-hour pretreatment with LG blunted all proapoptotic factors to levels even lower than those observed in basal experimental conditions.
