CASP6(redirected from CASP-6)
CASP6A gene on chromosome 4q25 that encodes a so-called effector caspase belonging to the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family which, once activated by proteolytic processing, plays a central role in the execution phase of apoptosis. Effector (also called executioner) caspases CASP3, -6 and -7 are responsible for cleaving downstream substrates.
