CARD11

CARD11

A gene on chromosome 7p22 that encodes a protein which provides the signal needed for T-cell receptor (TCR)-mediated T-cell activation. CARD11 binding to DPP4 induces T-cell proliferation and NF-kappa-B activation in a T-cell receptor/CD3-dependent manner. It activates NF-kappa-B via BCL10 and IKK and stimulates BCL10 phosphorylation.

23 October 2014 - US cancer genetic testing service provider NeoGenomics Inc (NASDAQ:NEO) disclosed Thursday the launch of new tests for the detection of mutations in the Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) and PLC-gama2 genes for predicting acquired resistance to BTK inhibitors, as well as the launch of a lymphoma profiling test predicting susceptibility to BTK inhibitors and testing for mutations in CXCR4, CD79B, MYD88, and CARD11 genes in various types of lymphoma.
Faced with infection, the body's white blood cells are commanded by a protein - CARD11 - to either make more antibodies and white blood cells that attack the invader or to stand down and abort the mission.
The new research shows that CARD11 is under the control of GAKIN, another protein that supervises the directives given to each white blood cell.
