CDK7A gene on chromosome 5q12.1 that encodes a cyclin-dependent kinase, an important regulator of cell cycle progression. CDK7 forms a trimeric complex with cyclin H and MAT1 and is a key component of the transcription factor TFIIH, which is involved in transcription initiation and DNA repair.
