Bottini's operation

Bottini's operation

An obsolete technique in which symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy was treated by "boring" through tissue with electrocautery, a procedure supplanted by transurethral resection of prostate (TURP); it was first described by Enrico Bottini (1837–1903), an Italian surgeon.
