A gene on chromosome 10q11.22 that encodes a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily, which regulate cell growth and differentiation in embryonic and adult tissues. GDF10 is thought to play a role in skeletal morphogenesis.
