growing skull fractureA rare sequel to a cranial fracture, especially in the parietal region, in which the cranial fracture grows following lacerations involving the dura mater. They usually occur after severe head trauma during the first three years of the life and rarely after age 8. Growing skull fractures present as a cystic (containing CSF) nontender swelling with an underlying palpable bony defect.
