A herpetology (the study of amphibians) term of art for any of the four commonly encountered venomous snakes seen in the Indian subcontinent: the common krait, Indian cobra, Russell's viper and saw-scaled viper (the last being the deadliest, given its aggressive nature and habitat near highly populated areas).
