Best, Charles Herbert

(1899–1978) Canadian physician. He was the codiscoverer of INSULIN in 1921, with Sir Frederick G. BANTING. He also discovered histaminase, carried out extensive studies on insulin and diabetes, and worked on heparin and thrombosis, and choline and liver damage.
