Beers, Clifford Whittingham
(bērz)U.S. mental health advocate and writer 1876–1943. Beers helped to found the American mental hygiene movement with the publication of his book "A Mind that Found Itself" (1908), a personal account of his treatment for mental illness, which brought attention to the inadequacies of institutionalized psychiatric care in the early 20th century.
