MIME

Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. The internet standard for attaching non-text files (graphics, spreadsheets, formatted word-processed documents, sound files, etc.) to email.

An email program is MIME-compliant if it can both send and receive files by the MIME standard (MS). Besides email software, the MS is also used by web servers to identify the files they are sending to web clients.

Base64 is a simple binary to text encoding concept which represents binary data aim ASCII string format through translating it into a radix-64 representation.
They essentially read the user selected files, encode them in Base64 and send the file to the web service.

Images can be extracted from RTF and saved to HDD as physical files or stored in memory or stored inside HTML using base64 algorithm.
