bacteriorhodopsin
(băk-tîr′ē-ō-rō-dŏp′sĭn)n.
A pigmented membrane protein found in extremely halophilic archaea of the genus Halobacterium that converts light energy to chemical energy and is structurally similar to rhodopsin.
