ADRB3A gene on chromosome 8p12 that encodes beta-1-adrenergic receptor, a member of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, which mediates catecholamine-induced activation of adenylate cyclase. ADRB3 is located primarily in adipose tissue and is involved in regulating lipolysis and thermogenesis.
