Bacille Calmette-Guerin. A strain of Mycobacterium bovis which has been grown multiple generations on potato bile glycerine agar, to a point where the strain is not regarded as pathogenic. It is used to nonspecifically stimulate the immune response in patients with certain malignancies—e.g., melanoma.BCG
