AgNOR

Argyrophilic Nucleolar Organizer Region. A loop of nucleolar DNA which encodes rRNA. AgNORs reflect proliferation; the number of AgNORs may correlate with tumour behaviour. In Kaposi sarcoma, AgNOR staining in tissue increases as the tumours become more aggressive.
