Apterygota

or

Ametabola

a subclass of primitive insects that have never evolved wings, and that undergo little or no METAMORPHOSIS. There is little change in form from INSTAR to instar. The subclass includes silverfish (Thysanura), springtails (Collembola), and Protura. Compare PTERYGOTA.
