Pharmacology The ratio of the total amount of drug in the body to the concentration of the drug in the plasma, or the 'apparent' volume necessary to contain the entire amount of a drug, if the drug in the entire body were in the same concentration as in the plasma. Cf Therapeutic drug monitoring.
