APOC1(redirected from ApoC-IB)
APOC1A gene on chromosome 19q13.2 that encodes a member of the apolipoprotein C1 family expressed primarily in the liver and activated when monocytes differentiate into macrophages. APOC1 is thought to modulate the interaction of APOE with beta-migrating VLDL and inhibit beta-VLDL binding to the LDL-receptor-related protein. It binds free fatty acids and reduces their intracellular esterification.
