APOC1
(redirected from Apo-CIB)APOC1
A gene on chromosome 19q13.2 that encodes a member of the apolipoprotein C1 family expressed primarily in the liver and activated when monocytes differentiate into macrophages. APOC1 is thought to modulate the interaction of APOE with beta-migrating VLDL and inhibit beta-VLDL binding to the LDL-receptor-related protein. It binds free fatty acids and reduces their intracellular esterification.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc. All rights reserved.
