Aortic Nipple Sign

A normal variation of the cardiac shadow seen on a plain chest film at the aortic arch, which may cause misdiagnosis of a tumour or lymphadenopathy; the ‘nipple’ corresponds to the left superior intercostal vein, enlarged when it serves as collateral circulation
