n.A mental disorder in which a person wants to live as an amputee, which is often accompanied by the desire to amputate one or more healthy limbs. The typical person with BIID is a white middle-aged male.
A compulsive desire to lose one or more healthy limbs through amputation. Also called apotemnophilia.
