CCL18
(redirected from Alternative macrophage activation-associated CC chemokine 1)CCL18
A gene on chromosome 17q11.2 that encodes a CC-type cytokine, which is characterised by two adjacent cysteines and, as with all cytokines, is involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. CCL18 is chemotactic for naïve T cells, CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and nonactivated lymphocytes, but not for monocytes or granulocytes. It attracts naïve T cells toward dendritic cells and activated macrophages in lymph nodes, and may play a role in humoral and cell-mediated immune responses.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
