alpha blocker

An agent that blocks activity at the alpha-adrenergic receptors, which are used as second-line antihypertensives. Alpha blockers provide symptomatic relief for benign prostate hypertrophy.

Doxazosin (Cardura), prazosin (Minipress), terazosin (Hytrin).
 
Side effects
Dizziness, headache, weakness, nasal congestion, fluid retention, drowsiness.
