ALDH3A2(redirected from Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 3 member A2)
ALDH3A2A gene on chromosome 17p11.2 that encodes an aldehyde dehydrogenase that plays a major role in detoxifying aldehydes generated by alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation. The ALDH3A2 gene product catalyses the oxidation of long-chain aliphatic aldehydes to fatty acid.
ALDH3A2 mutation causes Sjögren-Larsson syndrome.
