ADM

A gene on chromosome 11p15.4 which encodes adrenomedullin, a potent hypotensive and vasodilating agent, which is involved in physiologic control of fluid and electrolyte homeostasis. In the kidney, adrenomedullin is diuretic and natriuretic, and directly inhibits aldosterone secretion. In the pituitary gland, it inhibits basal ACTH secretion at physiologic doses. In the brain and pituitary, it facilitates hypovolaemia actions, complementing its hypotensive vascular effects.

Estos estudios mostraron que aumento el estres oxidativo en los ratones knockout con ADM y que las drogas antioxidantes asi como el tratamiento con ADM impiden dicho aumento.
