Adm. Cooper says there's no one recommendation that will eliminate backlogs.
Adm. Cooper said a training program like that used by the DAV for National Service Officers will enhance the claims process.
But Adm. Cooper believes that resolving the vast claims backlog will depend on great leadership.
"I think there is no doubt that the VBA realizes what its number-one priority is -- get the claims problems fixed," Adm. Cooper said.
Even though claims backlogs have been studied before, Adm. Cooper deeply believes that a change is coming.
Adm. Cooper couldn't predict the results of the task force recommendations because of so many variables.
Rear Adm. Lyden added that throughout the joint logistics world the Navy Supply Corps is leading the way--from key leadership roles to the tip of the spear from our homeland to the eastern mountains of Afghanistan.
Prior to assuming his new position, Rear Adm. Lyden was the Director, Supply, Ordnance and Logistics Operations Division (N41), Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.
Rear Adm. Lyden earned a bachelor's degree in Management Engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and was commissioned through the Naval ROTC program.
At sea, Rear Adm. Lyden served as Supply Officer, USS Valdez (FF 1096); Stock Control Officer, USNS Sirius (T-AFS 8); and as Supply Officer, USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70).
Rear Adm. Lyden is a qualified Naval Aviation Supply Officer and Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer and is a member of the Navy Acquisition Professional Community.
