Actinopterygiia class of bony fishes characterized by having fins with rays. They are the most successful group of fishes and are subdivided into two small orders, the Chondrostei (including sturgeons and paddlefishes) and the Holostei (including the garpikes and the bowfin), and a third large order called the Teleostei, which are the dominant fishes of the world today and the most numerous of all vertebrates.
