actinomycin/ac·ti·no·my·cin/ (-mi´sin) a family of antibiotics from various species of Streptomyces, which are active against bacteria and fungi; it includes the antineoplastic agent dactinomycin (actinomycin D).
Any of a class of peptide-containing, often toxic antibiotics that are obtained from soil bacteria.
