A rare infection in Sub-Saharan Africa, by Acanthocheilonema perstans, a parasite that causes skin rash and lumps, abdominal, chest, muscle and joint pains, neurologic changes, and leukocytosis.

Parasitic INFECTION with the filarial worm Acanthocheilonema perstans . The adult worm is found mainly in body cavities or in or under the skin. See FILARIASIS.
