American Organization of Nurse Executives

the national organization for nurse executives and nurse managers, a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association. It provides direction and leadership for the advancement of nursing practice and patient care in organized health care systems, for achievement of excellence in nursing practice, and for shaping of policies affecting health care delivery from the perspective of the nurse executive.
