This protein family includes eight members encoded by eight genes (ANGPTL18) identified in humans and mice, except ANGPTL5, that is a human orthologue [25, 27-29].
ANGPTL5 is mainly expressed in adult human heart [57], whereas ANGPTL6/AGF expression is restricted to liver and plasma [58].
On the other hand, immune inhibitory receptor human leucocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor B2 (LILRB2) and its mouse orthologue-paired immunoglobulin-like receptor (PIRB) have been reported to bind several ANGPTL proteins, especially ANGPTL2 and
ANGPTL5, in hematopoietic cells (HSC) [22].
