AKAP4

AKAP4

A gene on chromosome Xp11.2 that encodes a member of the structurally diverse A-kinase anchor protein (AKAP) family, which binds to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A, confining the enzyme to discrete locations within the cell. AKAP4 localises to sperm flagella and may be involved in regulating sperm motility.

After analysing 116 different CTAs, the researchers identified the protein AKAP4 as a potential biomarker that could effectively distinguish between patients with and without NSCLC.
The researchers then tested AKAP4 as a biomarker in a pilot cohort that contained 264 blood samples from patients with NSCLC and 135 control samples.
