AGPAT1

A gene on chromosome 6p21.3 that encodes an enzyme which localises to the endoplasmic reticulum, where it converts lysophosphatidic acid into phosphatidic acid, both of which are involved in signal transduction and lipid biosynthesis.

Stimulation of BMM was also associated with the upregulation of 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase 1 (AGPAT1) and phosphatidate cytidylyltransferase 1 (CDS1), which may increase cytidine diphosphate- (CDP-) diacylglycerol production, a precursor for phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylglycerol, and cardiolipin synthesis.
The BMET array contains four genes of these isoforms, and AGPAT1 was the most abundant transcript in both tissues.
