ADAM1ada3Either of two cysteine-rich transmembrane ADAMs family proteins encoded by nonfunctional pseudogenes ADAM3A (cyritestin 1) and ADAM3B (cyritestin 2), expressed in sperm acrosome and involved in sperm and egg fusion during fertilisation. In mice, ADAM3 binding to eggs involves CD9, CD81, and CD98. Transgenic mice with a targeted disruption of ADAM3 are infertile.
