One of 100 equal parts in an ordered sequence of statistical data. Thus, for instance, the 93rd percentile is the value that equals 93% of those in the series. If a value in a range of values falls in the 20th percentile, there are 19 lower and 80 higher. The method is widely used to record and check such parameters as the extent of body growth at a particular age.
