bufoteninAn indole alkaloid with hallucinogenic effects, first isolated from skin glands of toads—Bufo spp, e.g., Bufo alvarius—but also found in the seeds of Anadenanthera colubrina, Anadenanthera peregrina, Brosimum acutifolium and Mucuna pruriens trees. It has an LD50 of 200–300 mg/kg in rats.
