Caban v. Mohammad

A 1979 case of an unmarried couple who had lived together for 5 years and parented 2 children. The mother married and moved away with the 2 children; when her husband (mohammad) sought to adopt the children, the father (Caban) successfully blocked adoption because he had established a substantial relationship with his children and admitted paternity.
