desmopressin

A drug used in the treatment of DIABETES INSIPIDUS. Desmopressin, or DDAVP, is a long-acting analogue of the natural pituitary hormone vasopressin, which is deficient in this condition. The drug is given in a nasal spray or in the form of nose drops. The drug is on the WHO official list. Brand names are DDAVP, Desmospray and Desmotabs.
