AKT1(redirected from ÄKT)
Also found in: Acronyms.
AKT1A gene on chromosome 14q32.32|14q32.32 that encodes protein kinase B (PKB), a serine-threonine protein kinase that is rapidly and specifically activated by platelet-derived growth factor through phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. PKB plays a key role in regulating cell survival, insulin signalling, angiogenesis, tumour formation and growth factor-induced neuronal survival. Activated AKT1 phosphorylates and inactivates components of the apoptotic machinery.
