zygomaticus minor,
one of the 12 muscles of the mouth. Arising from the malar surface of the zygomatic bone and inserting into the upper lip, it acts to deepen the nasolabial furrow in a sad facial expression. Formerly called quadratus labii superioris. Also called zygomatic head. Compare zygomaticus major.
