The tissues were fixed with formal saline solution for 48 h, dehydrated with progressively increasing concentrations of alcohol and finally with absolute alcohol, cleaned with xylol and infiltrated with molten paraffin wax at 50 [degrees]C.
Briefly, stained microscopic preparations were washed in xylol and absolute ethanol, scraped with a sterile blade, and collected in a microcentrifuge tube in 1 x phosphate buffer.
These extended 72-hour studies of the fate of six chemicals (retinal, musk xylol, methyleugenol, catechol, diethanolamine and disperse blue 1).
