reindeer
Rangifer tarandus, the large, wild ruminant of Christmas mythology, a mirror image of the North American caribou except that the latter cannot be domesticated whereas reindeer adapt easily. Large brown animals with a white buttock patch and lower parts, large antlers in both male and female.
