Etymology: AS, hwit + L, fibra, fiber, cartilago

a mixture of tough, white fibrous tissue and flexible cartilaginous tissue. It is divided into four types: interarticular fibrocartilage, connecting fibrocartilage, circumferential fibrocartilage, and stratiform fibrocartilage. Compare hyaline cartilage, yellow cartilage.
