An acute CONJUNCTIVITIS occurring a few hours after unprotected exposure to the intense ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT output from an electric welding or cutting arc. Regeneration of EPITHELIUM occurs in a few days. Antibiotic eye drops are used to prevent infection.
