visual/kinesthetic dissociation

    0.32 sec.
visual/kinesthetic dissociation,
n an approach that is exposure-based and seeks to assist an individual's freedom from kinesthetic memories of trauma, thus enabling him or her to process the traumatic event(s) from a less invested perspective. Clients are instructed to see themselves from a vantage point above the scene, then to observe themselves in a physical level equal to the event—yet still distant enough for it to not intimidate them—whereas practitioners help them to reprocess the event from the security of the healing venue.
