ventral /ven·tral/ (ven´tral) 1. pertaining to the abdomen or to any venter. 2. directed toward or situated on the belly surface; opposite of dorsal.
ventral [ven′trəl] Etymology: L, venter, belly pertaining to a position toward the anterior surface of the body; frontward. Compare dorsal. ventral (venˑ·tr adj pertaining to the front. Also called
anterior. ventral, adj pertaining to the anterior part of a structure, or the part opposite the anatomic back.
ventral 1. pertaining to the abdomen or to any venter. 2. directed toward or situated on the belly surface; opposite of dorsal. ventral coccygeal myotomy tail setting operation in horses.
