The pulsation occurring in the veins, especially in the internal jugular vein.

venous pulse (vēˑ·ns pulsˑ),
n a vein's pulse; typically palpated over the neck's external and internal jugular veins. In general, the jugular vein's pulse is measured to assess the type of the pressure wave and the pulse's pressure. This is particularly significant in individuals who have been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia or a defect involving cardiac conduction. See also arrhythmia.
