umbilicus /um·bil·i·cus/ (um-bil´i-kus) [L.] the navel; the scar marking the site of attachment of the umbilical cord in the fetus.
Umbilicus The navel. Mentioned in: Appendectomy umbilicus the scar marking the site of entry of the umbilical cord in the fetus; called also navel. It is usually only depressed in the human abdomen and is inconspicuous in most domestic species.
