type-I somatic dysfunction, n 1., in American usage, a group curvature that affects lumbar and/or thoracic vertebrae, wherein side-bending and rotation occur in opposite directions (in accordance with the first principle of physiologic motion) as the vertebral segments are in a neutral position. 2., in French usage, a second-degree somatic dysfunction, as defined by Lovett.
