A rare radioactive hydrogen isotope with atomic mass 3 and half-life 12.5 years, prepared artificially for use as a tracer and as a constituent of hydrogen bombs. Also called hydrogen-3.

the radioactive isotope of the hydrogen atom, used as a tracer; a beta emitter. See also deuterium, protium.

the mass 3 isotope of hydrogen, symbol 3H, with a half-life of 12.26 years and used as an indicator or tracer in metabolic studies.

the mass 3 isotope of hydrogen, symbol 3H, obtained by bombardment of beryllium in the cyclotron with deuterium ions. It has a half-life of about 31 years, and is used as an indicator or tracer in metabolic studies. See also tritiated thymidine.
